When Vince and his foster son find themselves in danger, surprising twists and turns take Vince and Belle’s involvement in an unexpected direction.

MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW To bill this book as a romance in the traditional sense, even though romance is a big part of the story line, would be to do it an injustice. It's really about life's unpredictability and its choices. The rest is up to the protagonists … and up to the reader to follow with bated breath.

The Relationship Riddle A Novel eBook Susan Paulson Clark

What will you’ll get from the Relationship Riddle? You will find a heartwarming story of love between not only a man and woman, but also between child and parent, and even between friends. You’ll get a well-written story with a strong plot and story structure. You’ll find loveable characters you’ll want to cheer for, and maybe one or two that you might throw your book at, if they were standing in the room with you.
The story is written with the strength of a woman who truly knows the definition of love and commitment. Susan Paulson Clark tells a great tale of a football coach who falls in love with a little boy and a woman. The story pursues his adventures as he grows closer to each one, and thus tries to prove he is deserving of his or her love. It also tells of his struggle to deal with the impending death of his mother, a woman who hasn’t always been there for him.
What you will NOT find in this novel (much to my delight) are the lust and explicit sex scenes you might be expecting in a romance. Nor will you find boy and girl doing the proverbial dance through the love me/hate me scenes. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good, clean, true love story.
I found myself glued to the story, waiting anxiously to find out what was going to happen, as I knew some kind of danger was coming to mess things up for poor Vince. And of course it did come. Great job, Susan. Keep on writing.

The Relationship Riddle A Novel eBook Susan Paulson Clark Reviews

As so many have I also have experienced the heartbreak of a relationship, the harrowing experience of divorce and being a single mom and then finding a true best friend and marriage to him for well over 20 years before the Lord took him home. Loss of both parents 10 years apart and living alone. This story touched so many of the places in my history. It was a interesting read.
It started out slowly and I thought well it was cheap, at least give it a try. I'm actually glad I did. It was very well thought out and was not obvious. I could tell that the author had given a lot of thought to relationships and what makes some of them magical. I learned something. I'm going to try something different because I read this book.
The Relationship Riddle was a very enjoyable read. It was well written and left me wanting more. I thought Clark did a tremendous job with character development. I was hooked and I could identify with the main characters in the story. I appreciated very much that it was clean and appropriate for anyone. Grammatically speaking it was excellent as well.

I would love to read more of this author's work. I want to know how the relationship between Belle and Vince progresses. I also really appreciated the questions at the end, it's not just an entertaining read but it is also thought provoking.
While this is a book is billed as romance, it is so much more than that.
The Relationship Riddle is not only a love story between a man and woman, but also a love story between a child and their parent.
If you are looking for a page-turning read that takes you inside real-life situations love for self and others, parenting, adoption, and trying to figure how to live life amidst life happening to and before you then this is the book for you. The characters are believable--somewhat flawed and beautiful.
While romance is a vast genre, this book does it right. You won't be forced to go inside the bedroom. Instead, you watch their love grow in everyday situations.
I had to force myself to put it down, which is truly a rarity for me. Mrs. Clark crafted a beautifully written story that pulls you in and makes you beg for more.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Author Danielle A. Vann
The Relationship Riddle touches on many social topics current today. Single parenting, fostering children, males fostering children, elder care. and women entrepreneurs. The story unfolds with Belle as co-owner of a store, and Vince a friend of her friends. It's typical in that we know that the two might end up with each other, but what isn't typical is the story itself. The writing is good, the characters are believable, and what is refreshing to me is, there isn't graphic sex in the book. I like to read good stories, and if you enjoy romance on the lighter side, then you'll enjoy The Relationship Riddle.
New relationships can be a struggle at first. Rarely does one work out exactly as you plan.

In this well plotted book, Belle is falling for her best friend’s ex-boyfriend Vince. If she continues to see Vince, how will it affect her friendship with Marian?

The relationship is not the only thing in this book. We also learn about Belle’s struggle with alcoholism and her worthless ex-husband. Vince has recently adopted a little boy and is learning to be a father and helping Tye learn to trust again after being taken away from his mother.

This story also has some great secondary characters and their stories will keep you hanging on to find out what happens to them as well.

I enjoyed this book a lot and highly recommend it.
Belle and Marian are co-founders of the Stairstepz bookstore. One day Marian's old flame Vince Anderson walks through the front door looking for a parenting book. Turns out he wants to foster a child - on his own! When Belle doesn't tell Marian about Vince's visit, you just know they're in for trouble. Belle knows she should stay away from him, but something about him draws her in. With Vince reluctant to commit to a relationship because of his past experiences, will these two ever get together?

Although there are a few references to things I assume are in the previous book, the story is still easy to follow and stands on its own merits. Some pretty difficult issues are raised (alcoholism, child abuse, drug making, fostering, adoption, divorce, sexual harassment - both male and female, single parenting, domestic violence, surgery, physical therapy, aged care, death, prison), but they seem to be resolved a little too easily. Still, this is an entertaining read and a lot lighter than these issues might indicate.

While this story line is complete, the ending leaves it open for a sequel. I look forward to reading more about these characters.
