When Emma uses blackmail to force her father into giving her the inheritance owing to her early, it sets in motion a chain of events that will change the lives of her and her elder sister Kate forever. Although Emma and Kate have grown up on their father’s farm together, they each want two very different things. Emma is fed up with her boring, suffocating lifestyle and longs to break free. Kate by contrast is happy living and working for her father on the farm and can’t understand her sister’s urgency to leave.

With her inheritance, Emma is soon off to London with her wealthy friend Natalie. She begins to live a life of luxury whilst her sister Kate is left hard at work on the farm. But things are not all they seem. Before long Emma is finding that London life is not all roses, whilst Kate is forced to re-evaluate what it is she wants from life. And even though Kate and her father are living in the middle of nowhere, she discovers that a past relationship may pose a present danger to her.

The Inheritance eBook Elaine Jeremiah

Two sisters. Two journeys. One Inheritance.

In the Inheritance you get to follow two sisters that have completely different values. The author does a wonderful job of pulling you right into the story from the first page. This novel about family, love, and forgiveness, is entertaining and face-paced. Kate, the older sisters, is level-headed and hard working. Emma is strong-willed and unapologetic. Even though they are extremely different they both are compelled by fear. Kate's scared to deal with the past while Emma's afraid of what she could miss by staying on the farm. The characters are well-developed and I felt a connection with each sister because the author did such a great job helping you see their heart and motivation. It's interesting to see the consequences of their decisions and the unlikely person that brings these two sisters together.

If you are looking for an intriguing, easy to follow story, this book won't disappoint. Overall it's an amazing debut novel that left me wanting to read more books from this author.

The Inheritance eBook Elaine Jeremiah Reviews

The story is ok . I would have to side with Kate her sister needs to earn her welcome. Emma was mean to her father and sister.
An uncomplicated story line that is pretty predictable but well written. The ending holds no surprises with everything tidy. An easy read.
was not a fan story was a lot of words and the plot did not ring true for me hopefully you will like it better
If this was written by a 13 year old, it was pretty good. If not, it was very juvenille and forced. The prodigal son storyline was really obvious from the beginning. The secondary storyline with Kate and Steven made no sense and ended very abruptly. But, the book was free, so I can't complain too much. You get what you pay for.
this was well written, thoughtful, provoking and a touching novel....It portrayed the many differences between sisters and their living styles, but it shows the ties of family....
Prodigal daughter comes home. A dull read and predictable. Dialogue is too panned. It's a nice try but needs more work to place the reader in the book.
There were points in the book where I could see the author had a brilliant thought that was waiting to be carried out in perfect timing. However, one great thought overlapped another, then another, until the only option was to tie all of the loose ends together. I feel the author got tired, became afraid the reader would get tired, and eventually just put it together as neatly as possible without any wrapping paper.
I gave it three stars because it did hold my interest enough to finish it. It gave me hope that there would be more surprises than there actually were. And, for me personally, the writer using the story of the prodigal son from The Bible as inspiration for one of the main characters, made me appreciate the whole idea of the story.
To sum up my review, it reminded me a lot of an after school special with unknown actors due to a very low budget, but with good intentions, nonetheless.
